The Wildcard 52 Local - Sponsorship Terms
What is it?
- The Wildcard supports wildcards. A wildcard doesn't work in isolation. THE WILDCARD 52 LOCAL SPONSORSHIP supports the organisations and teams that build and support our wildcard pack.
- $10/$100 sold, that's more than the big guys. We are a small business committed to a big impact in supporting our community to grow strong together.
- Why 52? Fifty-two cards in a pack. Fifty-two weeks in a year. Make every one count.
How it works:
- Somebody in your community shops from The Wildcard.
- Same price. Same great value. Same delivery options.
- Upon check-out, they enter your organisation’s code.
- Nothing is added to the check-out price. Nobody donates anything, nobody collects anything and the price is the same either way.
- Your school, club or organisation gets $10 for every full $100 of product value - paid by The Wildcard.
- It is calculated on the product value of your finalised order: the merchandise at the prices actually paid, including GST, after discounts and excluding delivery.
- $10 for each complete $100 and it keeps going up with no limit. No cap and no fee is taken out of the sponsorship; the organisation receives the whole amount.
- The Wildcard pays this from its own margin as sponsorship. The price is the same whether a code is used or not. This is direct sponsorship, not a donation.
These are the terms of that promise.
They apply to every order that carries a valid 52 Local code.
1. It costs you nothing
The code is not a discount code and it has no monetary value.
It does not change your price, your total, your delivery charge or anything else about your order.
A valid code connects an order with an organisation and a sponsorship cycle.
The sponsorship is paid by The Wildcard, out of our margin.
2. How the amount is worked out
The sponsorship is $10 for every complete $100 of product value per order, with no upper limit.
Product value is the merchandise on the finalised order, at the prices actually paid, including GST, after discounts and excluding delivery, returns, refunds and cancellations.
Product value is defined in full at section 2.1 of The 52 Standard, and the deductions at section 2.6.
- At the prices actually paid: discounts come off before the base amount is calculated.
- Including GST: because that is the number you can see. We would rather you were able to check us.
- Excluding delivery: if freight is collected on your order, then it is paid to a third party - generally Australia Post.
- Finalised: the order as it stands once the returns period has closed. Nothing is calculated before then.
An order with $100 of product value generates $10 sponsorship. $200 generates $20. $250 generates $20 - because $250 contains two complete hundreds.
3. Returns, refunds, cancellations and associated fees
The sponsorship follows the money.
It is worked out once, after returns have been processed - see our Returns & Refund Policy for the return window.
These come off product value before the amount is worked out:
- A cancelled order generates no sponsorship.
- Anything returned or refunded. A partly refunded order is recalculated on what you kept. Keep $250 of a $350 order and the sponsorship is $20 rather than $30.
- Any restocking or return-handling fee charged on the order, under our standard fees and conditions.
- Any additional delivery we pay on the order - a replacement despatch, a return label, a redirection.
- Any refund larger than the goods that came back, to the extent of the excess. Delivery refunded is not an excess because delivery was never counted.
If you keep less than $100 of product value, no sponsorship is generated for that order.
The recalculation always happens before the organisation is paid.
Every return, refund and fee on every order is applied before the amount is worked out, so an ordinary return never impacts an organisation once it has been paid.
4. When the organisation is paid
Not quickly, and the reason is that we would rather pay one amount correctly, than pay small amounts early and have to correct them.
Each organisation's cycle runs over four months:
- Month 1 - Sign-up. The agreement is signed, the checks are done and the code is issued. No orders accrue yet.
- Month 2 - Active. The code is live for one calendar month. Every qualifying order in that month accrues.
- Month 3 - Settlement. The code is closed. Returns and refunds run their course and the amounts are recalculated on the product value customers kept.
- Month 4 - Payment. One payment, direct to the organisation's own account, with a statement showing the order count, the amount accrued, any adjustments and the final figure.
Nothing is calculated until the active month has finished and returns have had time to be processed.
5. This is sponsorship, not a donation
This is a commercial sponsorship - payment for promotion - and it is treated that way by both parties.
It is not a donation or a gift.
The organisation must not issue a donation, gift or tax-deductible receipt for it and must not record or describe it as a donation, gift or fundraising income.
This applies whether or not the organisation is a deductible gift recipient.
The customers are not making a donation either. They are buying clothes at our standard price and nominating a sponsorship The Wildcard pays.
6. Which organisations can take part
Schools, clubs and community organisations with an active ABN.
Where a school takes part, the parent body signs (the P&C, P&F or equivalent) with its own ABN. The school itself cannot be the recipient.
If you can provide the basics above, we can send out an eligibility checklist we require for taxation and fraud protection.
Places are limited. We are a small business and the real cost to the business is high.
We accept 3 new organisations a month, run up to 12 at any one time and an organisation may run three cycles in any twelve months.
When a month is full it is closed and we tell the applicant which month is available next. We would rather say so plainly than take on more than we can look after.
We may change or end the program. If we do, the change applies to new applications only: a code already issued is honoured to the end of its cycle and sponsorship already earned on completed orders is still paid. We will not change the rate, the base or the cycle for an organisation part-way through.
We may suspend or withdraw a code, with written reasons, where an eligibility ground applies, where the organisation has not promoted The Wildcard as agreed, where the code is circulating outside the organisation's own community or where the arrangement is bringing either party into disrepute.
Where a sponsorship code is withdrawn, sponsorship already earned on completed orders is still paid, except where the ground is discrimination or vilification, substantiated fraud or a finding of dishonesty.
In those cases the amount is redirected to another eligible organisation. It is never retained by The Wildcard.
There are categories we will not sponsor and they are published in full with the program rules. We reserve the right to exclude an organisation based on our list of exclusions.
7. What we are not saying
Our decisions under this program are made in good faith on the information available to us. They are not a finding about any organisation, its members or its officers. Beyond the checks we describe we make no representation about any organisation's governance, solvency, conduct or fitness.
If you direct a sponsorship to an organisation, you are not relying on our endorsement of it and none is given.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
